Announcing Miami's Only Fly Tying Night

From time to time as I'm browsing through Instagram or talking to some of the guys from around the state, I realize a lot of these cities outside of Miami have a tight-knit community of anglers. Not to say that Miami doesn't have a great fishing community, but at times it feels like our city has so much going on, that unless we're actually fishing, or on Instagram, we don't really interact with each other as much.

So early one morning as I was driving down the Tamiami Trail with Jorge Alfonso @fly_305 he brought up the idea of hosting a local fly tying night. I liked where he was going. It seems like almost every other coastal city has one, why not us?

I called our friends over at MIA Brewery in Doral, tossed around some ideas, (avoided a hurricane), and now it's official!

We will be hosting Miami's Only Fly Tying night, 3 weeks from now on Monday, October 23rd at MIA Beer Company.

There is no charge to join us. We'll have free fly tying materials for you to use courtesy of Oyster Creek Outfitters in St. Augustine, and if fly tying is not your thing, cool! Come hang out, talk shit and enjoy some $4 beers with us.

Our goal is to turn this into a once a month shin-dig. Even if you don't fly fish, we just want to bring together the fishing community and have a place for us to meet, lie about our fishing trips, and share ideas. There are all sorts of car meets and bike nights, so think of this as our version of that.

This is a B.Y.O.V (Bring Your Own Vise) event. Please bring your own fly tying vise and tools. We will not provide them for you. Check the flyer for any additional details.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at damian@jigalode.com

Look forward to seeing you guys there!
